Is there a light you tend without realizing others are navigating by it? Is there a steady presence whose value only becomes visible in its absence? What fixed points are you navigating by, so reliably present that you have stopped seeing them?

I love lighthouses and what they represent.
I like that they are both illumination and navigation.
But even more interesting, to me: Though they serve as beacons, they are also saying, “Don’t come too close!” They are helping mariners figure out where to go by pointing out where NOT to go. 😄
I’m still pondering what that means metaphorically.
